Hourly Range:   $30.53 - $31.70 per hour and MWA Benefits

Summary 
Reporting to the Lead Campus Supervisor and guided by the Deans and the Director of Student Support, the Campus Supervisor ensures a safe and positive school climate. This role focuses on daily campus and student safety, proactively engaging with students and families to support MWA's mission and behavior expectations. Responsibilities include visible campus presence, implementing safety and security procedures, responding to requests, conducting inspections, addressing minor behaviors with restorative conversations, and communicating with families. This position also assists with initial conduct information gathering and fosters positive relationships to promote respect and responsibility. The Campus Supervisor performs their duties with patience, tact, and good judgment and within established guidelines. This position includes evening and weekend hours, and occasional overtime. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.

Safety & Security 
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and orderly environment. Develop rapport and build positive relationships with students and staff to foster trust and a climate of safety, security, and cooperation. Enforce school policies and procedures, and intervene in situations that may compromise safety or security.
  • Serve as a visible and accessible presence on campus. Regularly patrol school grounds, buildings, and parking areas to deter unauthorized activity, access and/or potential threats. Proactively monitor and prevent unauthorized individuals from being on campus.
  • Enforce and implement school safety and security protocols, including emergency response plans, lockdown procedures, and evacuation drills. Execute and adhere to routine school opening and closing procedures and protocols.
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies. Act as a first responder to safety/security-related incidents, medical emergencies, and other critical situations on campus, follow established protocols and provide assistance as needed.
  • Respond to and manage escalating situations, providing support and guidance, and refer to school administration as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of incidents and safety and/or security-related activities. Provide daily summary reports to the Lead Campus Supervisor. Help to investigate safety and/or security-related incidents, gather information, and prepare detailed and accurate reports, (within 24/hrs.). Serve as a witness in student conferences, disciplinary/legal hearings/proceedings.
  • Work closely with the Lead Campus Supervisor to address safety issues and implement security measures. Be proactive in spotting areas where safety can be enhanced and recommend improvements. Actively contribute to the development and implementation of school safety plans, emergency response protocols, and threat assessment procedures to help us resolve potential problems before they escalate.
  • Assume responsibility for designated projects, e.g., AED compliance, safety drill organization, storage capacity, event coordination, etc. Assist with event support.
School Culture & Student Behavior
  • Enforce school policies and procedures, and intervene in situations that may compromise safety or security. Respond to escalating situations, providing support and guidance, and refer to school administration as needed.
  • Develop strong relationships with students and families, foster trust and open communication that aligns with MWA's mission and behavioral expectations, and cultivate a positive and inclusive school culture.
  • Proactively monitor student behavior during school hours, providing general supervision and remaining alert to behavior that may disrupt the educational process or be injurious to persons or property.
  • Be a visible and approachable resource for students and staff regarding student conduct, conflict resolution, and school culture, facilitating conflict resolution and de-escalation efforts.
  • Carry out student supervision schedules and assignments, help with events and student transportation, and look for ways to make these systems better. Escort students, staff, and visitors to and from on-campus locations, strictly enforcing student sign-out procedures to prevent unauthorized departures during school hours.
  • Use basic interventions to handle minor student misbehavior, offering guidance for better choices through informal problem-solving, conflict resolution, quick check-ins, and brief restorative talks with individuals or small groups, following the Lead Campus Supervisor and/or Deans’ instructions.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding minor student behavioral concerns and partner on creating strategies that support student behavior.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and confidential recording of student behavioral interactions/interventions in designated systems (e.g., Kickboard, PowerSchool).

Work Environment
This job operates in an indoor and outdoor school campus environment.
Physical Demands
Required: a level of fitness and mobility that allows the Campus Supervisor to actively patrol the school grounds, respond quickly to incidents, and ensure the safety and security of the school environment. This includes the ability to move frequently throughout the campus, including walking, running (in emergencies), standing for extended periods, and navigating stairs. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform tasks such as assisting students, inspecting facilities, and addressing safety concerns. Sufficient vision to monitor student behavior, identify safety hazards, and operate security equipment. Ability to hear and understand conversations, alarms, and other important sounds in a potentially noisy environment. 

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • College coursework/Associate's degree and 3+ years experience in a safety, security, or campus supervision role, or working directly with adolescents in an educational environment.
  • Strong understanding of school safety and security best practices; knowledge of behavior management strategies and restorative justice principles desired.
  • Must have a demonstrated attitude of service and concern for the wellbeing and safety of others.
Skills and Abilities
  • Desire to work collaboratively to foster an environment of safety and excellence. 
  • Ability to communicate amicably and professionally with a wide range of people, cultivate positive interactions and working relationships. Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse cultural, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of others.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Professional orientation – appearance, communication, organization, and attitude.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and proactive in responding to the needs of the school community. Ability to uphold and reinforce MWA policies and procedures.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports. Basic computer skills and familiarity with security technology. Comfortable learning and using the digital tools MWA uses, and willing to try out new technologies and work tools.
  • Excellent observation and problem-solving skills. Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful or emergency situations. Ability to enforce rules and regulations fairly and consistently.
Licenses or Certificates
  • Employment eligibility will include fingerprints/Live Scan, tuberculosis (TB) screening, and other employment clearance.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED, and SB 1626 certification desired.
